Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
