In Texas Holdem, the initial step is to get the card game started, and for this the players put out a specific amount of cash. ‘Posting the blinds’ is the commonly used saying for this play. In the following step, the croupier shuffles the deck of cards and deals 2 cards face down to every player. A normal deck of 52 cards is used. After the deal, there is the first sequence of betting. This sequence is typically known as a "pre-flop".

Following the first wagering sequence, the first card is discarded. This tossed aside card is the "burn card", and this is performed to ensure there is absolutely no cheating. The next 3 cards are then flipped face up on the poker table. These cards are known as ‘the flop’. Now comes a second sequence of wagering, after which the dealer tosses out an additional card and flips one more card onto the poker table. After this, competitors can utilize the 6th card to form a five-card poker hand.

Another round of betting happens, and in many styles of games, here is where the wager amount doubles. There is an additional round of burning a card, and a last deal of a card face-up on the table. This is known as the "river". Players can now utilize any of the five cards on the board, and/or the 2 cards in their hand, to form a five-card poker hand.

To wrap it up there is a further sequence of betting. Then, all the players remaining begin to show their hands. This is called the "showdown". Beyond a doubt, the competitor who has the strongest hand wins. When players have even hands a sharing of the pot is used.

Holdem is a very easy game to learn, but to acquire knowledge one needs a ton of practice.
