Online poker has become world famous lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variations on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the bank rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up just before the croupier saying "No further bets." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players are given 5 cards. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s initial card, you must in turn make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s value is akin to your original wager, which means that the risks will have doubled. Surrendering means that your bet goes directly to the house. After the bet is the face off. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, including an amount equal to the ante. If the house does have ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The house pays chips even with your wager and fixed odds on your call wager. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
